Pissouri has one of the most beautiful and idyllic beaches in the island, maybe in the Mediterranean. As the crystal blue waves meet with the rocky slope, they compose a magical melody that enchants all visitors. This wonderful seashore is two kilometers long; it starts from Aspros Cape and reaches the wild and rocky hills. It is also special for its extraordinary beauty and its organization according to European standards. The beach of Pissouri has been awarded with the European Blue Flag. This indicates that it meets all European standards of organization and cleanliness. All visitors are impressed by the crystal waters and the clean sand. What is more, provision for the safety of all swimmers is included with the continuous presence of lifeguards.

The excellent organization of the beach under discussion is the result of the cooperation between private and public bodies. The beach has been equipped with changing rooms, showers, toilettes, and items for rent such as reclining chairs and umbrellas. What is more, the beach is ideal for all sea spots lovers, such as ski and sea-bikes.

Two luxury hotels have been constructed on the coast, Columbia and Columbia Resort. Both have the capacity to host numerous visitors. Columbia has an outdoor swimming pool, playground, bars, spa and restaurant. According to the public relations manager of Columbia “spectacular nights” are organized at the restaurant, such as “Cypriot night”. Columbia Resort consists of beautiful two-storey houses, built with traditional materials, with huge balconies and wooden doors. Columbia Resort seems like a fairytale-village, since these little traditional houses are surrounded by small chapel dedicated to All Saints, a small tavern, an ouzeri, narrow alleys paved with slabs and decorated with flowers and palm trees.

Apart from the hotels, there are several shops near the beach, as well as restaurants and taverns. Some of the shops are a photographer, a bank and a supermarket. What is more, visitor can spend their time in a restaurant or tavern tasting delightful Cypriot dishes.

The community has completed a series of projects that aim to upgrade and embellish the seaside. To be more explicit, the pavement along the beach has been expanded and decorated with benches viewing the sea. The community has also initiated the afforestation of the seaside.

To sum up, Pissouri beach combined natural beauty and tourist organization. The upgrade of the beach is continuous due to the interest shown by the community and several private bodies. Undoubtedly the clean beach of Pissouri with its crystal clear water is one of the favouite destinations for Cypriots and foreigners.
